Plein Air Study of my Lavender Garden

Sat out in my garden again today to paint this one. There are so many different flowers blooming now, I have a hard time deciding which to paint at the present moment. These were grouped together in a nice way--so away I went!

Working on my drawing skills with the book "Drawing Course" of Charles Bargue . . .

I've starting reading and practicing my drawing skills with this book recently. Like most artists, I often feel as if my drawing could be improved. The book is described as...

"a complete reprint of the fabled but rare Drawing Course of Charles Bargue and Jean-Leon Gerome, published in Paris in the 1860s and 1870s. For the most of the next half-century, this set of nearly 200 masterful lithographs was copied by art students worldwide before they attempted to draw from a live model. This book will be valuable to a wide range of artists, students, art historians and collectors, even as it introduces them to the hitherto-neglected master, Charles Bargue."

Sounded good to me! The lithographs really are beautiful, even if you don't try and draw from them, they're great to look at! So, I'll be spending some time drawing these reprints, and see if I can improve a bit.
